Social-emotional Learning: What do you have to be aware of?

 Social and Emotional Learning Strategies

Social Sensitive Learning (SEL) is a method for adults and children to gain knowledge and develop abilities that impact their ability to manage emotions, manage behavior and establish and meet goals. Implementing social-emotional learning strategies can aid in education and improve academic performance.

Teaching Emotional and Social Learning Social learning is a real benefit in the classroom through introducing students to control their emotions, be attentive and engage effectively with their classmates.

However, it is more than that. SEL has been proven to boost schools and student performance, encourage college and graduation, increase students' earnings as adults, and improve their physical and mental health.

What are the specific skills students should be taught?

SEL Researchers and leaders agree on three issues:

  1. Mind - High-performance skills can help students manage their behavior through controlling behavior, attention to recall, and organizing their tasks.

  2. Social Skills - Skills that assist students in being social by teaching compassion, cooperation, listening, communication, conflict resolution, and understanding of the social context.

  3. The ability to manage emotions helps students manage anger or sadness and help them recognize these emotions in other people.

Finally, make responsible and thoughtful choices.

SEL promotes educational equity and excellence through real-school-family-community interaction to establish learning and understanding environments that include a relationship of trust and cooperation, solid and effective curriculum and instruction, and continuous assessment.
